We are delighted to report that Marconi Station at Derrigimlagh, Galway has been named as the winner of “Ireland’s Best Place” award by the RIAI. This unique project was managed by Sherwood & Associates, and led by Denis Byrne Architects in association with TTT (Thirty Three Trees).
“The Marconi station is one of the great forgotten projects of Irelands technological past. The first transatlantic wireless communications were sent from here, and it was the landing spot of the first non-stop atlantic flight.”
The Marconi station project – concept by Sherwood & Associates and led by Denis Byrne architects – “celebrates these achievements in a landscape of outstanding natural beauty.”
